NEW TO HOSTING GUIDE
Written by wwwhostingdirectory.com

You may be new to all the new internet jargon that is fillingy our email inbox, but it does get easier with time and a little research and patience. You may want to start a website or you may actually already have one but where do you put it and where does it go? Here is a guide to web hosting, it could be useful if you are new to web hosting or even if you already think you know everything about it!

If you looked into your computer and saw the folders and the files contained within you would be shocked at the sheer amount of information that is stored within your computer. All those files and folders are contained on a hard disk in your computer whether it be a personal computer or a laptop. They are there ready to be accessed at any time you want. When you think about connecting to the internet and searching for information, you are looking at a web page, this is a file of sorts just the same as the files inside your computers. Your files and folders would not exist if you did not have a computer to hold them on. A web page is basically the same, it needs a computer to be able to be viewed by anyone else.

When you look at your files on your computer, there is only you viewing it, therefore you do not need anything other than your computer to view it. If you are wanting to view a web page, as this is stored on the internet for potentially millions of people to view it has to be stored on a computer that has very high specs, probably much, much better than your computer. It also has to have an extremely fast and capable connection the internet.

Web pages make up a web site, which is a collective of information for people to view and read at their leisure for whatever purpose. These web sites have to have some space on the internet and this selling of space is what web hosting is. Web hosting companies are in an abundance at the moment, as they know it is difficult to run these websites ourselves on our own small spec computers. It is not particularly expensive to use web hosting sites and it takes away some of the pressure to do it yourself. The web hosting companies that offer their services are connected to the internet at extremely high speeds making it possible for lots of people all over the world to look at your website at the same time. Doing it yourself can be very costly so it is more cost effective to let someone else have the burden.

Web hosting companies offer more than just web space for your website or pages. They offer other services in the price of your web hosting packages, such as registering a domain name, and standard email services, email address and the such like. Now some companies may offer more than others for either more or less money, so it is always better to shop around and look at testimonials of other users of that service and company. Every single web hosting company will offer the buyer technical support in case you get stuck and need some help with various subjects.
